This transparent GIF file has not been prepared properly for the background. Notice the fringe around the edges. This is called aliasing.
(Note: technically, the file was prepared using anti-aliasing technology, but because it produced visible results like this, it can be called aliased). |
By preparing the original file against a brown background BEFORE setting transparency, the aliased edges are not visible. This is called anti-aliasing. |
